Welcome to my blog !

Hey guys !

Created this space years and years ago thus do forgive
me if it comes off as extremely cheesy. And the incredibly
tacky name. Haha, I get chills everytime I lay eyes on it.
Too lazy to change things though !

I love to write, so have kept myself updating over the years.
I hope you guys enjoy reading me ! ♥

    Bangkok part 2:

    7:07 PM

Blogging in separates about the trip cause I'm too lazy to do it all at one go but I don't wanna miss too much out and waste the photos ! Haha.

Oh, before I delve into day 3/4, let me list down the taxicapades we had there. It's ridiculous to imagine them happening in Singapore, but seriously, overseas, they seem like such a norm.

Have to share right ! So everyone can be more cautious when we're on our holidays. Hehe. Let's see if I can remember them all.

    1. Told taxi dealer that we wanted a cab to Som Boon restaurant and very clearly repeated the street of the restaurant to him. He assured us he knew the place and lo and behold ! We were brought to some far away place and a restaurant with the same name where there were people to open our car doors for us. Seriously.
Note: If someone form the establishment opens the doors for you, immediately be suspicious of the place (unless it's the bellboy/ valet at your hotel <:)

    2. Agreed on fare of 150 baht (expensive can ! but we wanted to take the tuktuk at least once la), halfway into the trip, the driver was all, 'jam jam 200 baht'. -_-

    3. There was a couple of occasions where we tried to tell the cabs our hotel street (it seems like it's never a good idea to let them know our hotels right away) and the cabbie would be like, 'hotel? hotel??'. After stating our hotel the driver would go on to say, 100 baht/200baht.
And that's after I've repeatedly asked meter?? metter??? METERRRR??? several times upon entering the cab. Seriously selective hearing man.

    4. Once, we strolled back to our hotel but gave up when we (I) reached the final stretch of street, I think less than 100m, and we hailed a cab from right there. It cost only 40 baht but the driver took our notes and matter of factly sat there and said 'no change'. He didn't even bother to turn into our hotel !!

    5. On another occasion, another driver too upon reaching the outside street of our hotel said he wouldn't be turning in. If you're in bkk, you'll understand why it's a kind of big deal to want your driver to turn in cause you're legs are in pain 90% of the time from all the walking. Anyway, before we could even protest, he had already gotten off the cab and opened my door. So gentlemanly right. And he didn't return us our change lo !! But 2 baht only la I think. Hehe (:

    6. Oh oh !! One night, we wanted to head to this club Route 66 and the driver was all 'rooooooot? rooooot??'. Quite obvious he had no idea where he was going but when we attempted to get off, he said he knew. We should have gotten off right there but aiya. Of course, he brought us to this shady pub that was obviously NOT Route 66 and even had the cheek to say 'here better'.
Should have given him 2 baht for the fare and told him 'this better'.

Lol. It's quite funny to listen to they're excuses and reasoning sometimes, and when we're really tired, we actually just stand there and listen to them attempt to cheat us by telling us how taking the tuktuk at 200 baht is cheaper in the jam instead of a metered cab.

It's really not a big deal, but still. They way they're so blatant and like thick skinned? about it is soooo exasperating. And it's not much money, but imagine the time wasted ! Holiday, tight schedule leh. People who visit the place for 2 nights only how.

Well. (: They do make good stories though.

    Day 3

The third day was a Saturday, so of course, woke up bright and early to head to Chatuchak.

Was told the MRT would be the best way to get there and we're off !

    Chips to tap in !

So hungry we wolfed down our food and this strange pink dish was all I managed to snap.

    Chatuchak weekend market

The shopping there is glorious especially for guys ! They have such nice looking stuff !

The weather was really really hot though. Near the end I felt like I couldn't even stand but he was still going strong. Lol. Can still drag me here and there to look at stuff, salute.

Street and street and streets of clothes.

Was gonna have Mango Tango but apparently it moved someplace else so we settled down here instead !

    Photobucket

You have to try this if you're there ! Ice cream and sticky rice in coconut. Hehe, it's really yummy !

We were there all they way till the stores started closing at about 6pm before we decided to head someplace else.

Super oily, sticky and walked out but we still had it in us ! Not bad eh.

    Major Ratchayothin night market

This market is pretty out of the way, but if you have the time, it's really worth a visit !

Chatuchak takes about 30-40 minutes from the major shopping district via taxi/train, and this place will take another 30 from Chatuchak.

So it's pretty far away. I don't think I saw one tourist there, only locals.

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

It kind of reminds me of our Scape, outdoor booths and all. The clothes at the night market can mostly be found in Platinum but I did see some vendors selling exclusive pieces too.

Also, there are 2? malls surrounding this place so lots to eat and see.

The crowd was really young and upbeat and I think cause the place isn't as busy as Platinum/ Chatuchak, the vendors are much much more polite and smiley. Better to bargain with ! (:

    Photobucket

No idea what the Thai words say but we settled here for Dinner anyway !

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

Super cosy place and I really like Thai iced tea !

    Photobucket

This doesn't look very appetizing but it was the moooooost yummilicous sliced pork I had in Thai !! One plate and I was hooked. Ordered it almost every meal after that, you can see the different versions !!

Alot of the restaurants seem to serve food like that there and I realized later it was northern Thai cuisine? Small dishes of salads, chicken wings and stuff.

    Day 4

    Photobucket

Hehe. I think that was a dead lizard.

    Photobucket

Meant to head to Vanilla Brasserie at Siam Paragon I saw a blogger introduce but ended up at the restaurant next door instead.

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

YUM. So many different versions and I love them all.

    Photobucket

I don't know how the Thai people do it but they seem to have such small appetites !! They're portion of food is so damn small, and they eat so little.

The boy said it wasn't even enough to stuff into the gaps of his teeth. Haha !!

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    This meal was yummy. (:

    Siam Square

Siam square in the day is a little different from the night. The streets of brick and mortar shops are open, but the prices there are pretty exorbitant for Bangkok me thinks.

A very pretty place to stroll around nevertheless !

We passed by this eatery a couple of times and there was always a queue from day to night.

So we tried it out !

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

Som Tam on Siam square soi 5. Very recommended !

Turned out it was very similar to the meals we had before this.

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

Sliced pork again ! This one also YUM.

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

You can't tell but the place was 3 storey high, and the food must take lift up one. Hehe.

    Photobucket

Saw alot of the locals having their meals with sticky rice so he ordered one too !

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

The chicken wings were the beeeeeeeessssst fried wings I've had in a loooong time.

Som Tam was situated right next to Mango Tango !

    I love love love loveeeee the mango and sticky rice here. My only gripe is the scoop of sticky rice is sooooo small ! );

    Ah, I miss Bangkok.

Until the next post ! (:

Hi there! I am curious about the Major Ratchayothin Market and was wondering if you could tell me more! Firstly, would I have difficulty speaking to the locals there as the place is known to be seen with less tourists!
Secondly, is it worth the trip? E.g. Is the fashion modern and trendy?
Thank you so much! Your posts on Bangkok have been very detailed and I hope to hear a favourable reply from you thanks!
